For Immediate Release

17th October 2006

Instant production of SDLT certificate (SDLT 5) now integrated within Easy Convey’s e-Conveyancing

CASA software

CASA’s e-submission of SDLT returns will give law firms the ability to generate an SDLT 5 certificate instantaneously

Easy Convey (www.easyconvey.com), the UK’s leading provider of e-conveyancing software, has today announced that its Conveyancing Administration Software Application (CASA) will now allow users of CASA’s SDLT e-submission service to produce their own SDLT certificate, SDLT 5. This added functionality will mean that law firms can submit the certificate with the appropriate form to Land Registry immediately after the SDLT e-submission has been successfully carried out.

"This is another important step along the road towards total e-conveyancing. Our clients will soon have the ability to produce and update both HMRC and the Land Registry with SDLT information themselves,” says Dominic Cullis, MD, Easy Convey. "This process, not so long ago, took days and sometimes weeks. We are looking forward to the launch date of this new functionality which HMRC is hoping will be available from 1st November."

Easy Convey is one of a limited number of external companies that have been recognised by HMRC to provide conveyancers with a secure method of sending SDLT returns online. The company's CASA software allows forms SDLT1, 2, 3, 4 to be completed online, whilst forms 5 and 60 can be printed and submitted to the Land Registry.  Easy Convey was the first software supplier to obtain HMRC approval for all of the SDLT forms.

All of the printed SDLT forms, as well as those submitted electronically, are pre-populated where possible, with all of the relevant information required (using data previously gathered as part of the conveyancing process). With CASA, approximately 60% of the electronic SDLT return is automatically completed, leaving mainly “yes/no” answers and some codes to be selected form drop-down lists, saving the user from having to enter the same data over and over again.

During the development of the e-submission of the SDLT return in CASA, software developers from Easy Convey worked closely with HMRC's Software Development Support Team in order to make sure that it would present all of the electronic information required by HMRC in exactly the right format.  As such, Land Transaction Returns submitted electronically by CASA are fully validated before submission and comply with all HMRC standards and specifications.
